What a weekend!! John's cousin, Tootie's (whose real name is Elise) wedding was this past Saturday and the kids were in the wedding. Because of this, we got to see some of our favorite people who live far away. Also because of all of this, it was the most chaotic weekend we've had in a long, long time.
Friday was the rehearsal soon after John and I got home from work, with the rehearsal dinner following. The kids were troopers for that but we didn't get to stay for the dinner because it hadn't started when we left at 8 (that's past their bedtimes and trust me- these Frisky kids will let you know when it's past their bedtimes).
Saturday morning I went to help everyone decorate. They got married out in the forest they live just down the street from. It was a really nice place and beautifully decorated, thanks to James and Sam. Here's Uncle Sam helping the photographers with the bridesmaid's bouquets. I never got a picture of James that day. It probably would have been a blur, anyway. He was all over the place.
John brought the older kids to the park around 2 and they played and we waited around for when it was time for Iwa to get her hair done and for the kids to get dressed for pictures. My mom graciously offered to keep Leilea during this time and just bring her up to the wedding. Keep in mind, though, that these other two hadn't had naps. Sleep is important to these kids- or more accurately, everyone around them.
We got dressed, took pictures and were ready (as we could be) for the wedding at 6:30. Here's Iwa with the bride and bridesmaids waiting for pictures. She was very excited to be with the big girls and have a fancy dress and such an important job. I am so proud of her.
It was a long day.
Actually, while all of this was going on, Kawika was passed out in some man's truck cab while Grandpa Tony was talking to some friends. When John and I went around to check on him, the men assured me they hadn't given him THAT much wine. Nice.Kawika doesn't do well with cat naps and tends to wake up in a worse mood than he went down in. More to follow........
